Recently there was an attempt on the Lands End to John a Groats tandem record by James Cracknell and Rebecca Romero. At 10 o'clock in the evening sitting on a wall awaiting the riders I was challenged by a man. He insinuated that I was taking photographs of young girls and had called the police. The riders went through on schedule and I do not know whether the police wasted their time. Guru

The public realm can be a difficult place to navigate these days. Whereas once individuals were left to their own devices, there are now a plethora of legislative devices in place to marshall a persons' actions. In the case that you have described, there is potential scope to infringe both the EU Human Rights Act, and Copyright Designs & Patents Act 1998; as well as Child Protection Act 2008 (i.e. "photographs of young girls") - depending upon whether minors were actually present during your photo shoot.
We live in an increasingly litigious society - better get a good lawyer, or stay indoors, in the future!
